GeeWhiz Review: Tidepool & Angels Wear Green

  * The following nail polishes were sent to me for my honest review. For more information, please visit my disclosure policy.*
Hello Lacquer Lovers!
Happy day before Halloween! Check back tomorrow for my Halloween post! :)

Today I have 2 items to review; a lovely glitter polish, Tidepool, and a loose glitter, Angels Wear Green!

Let's start off with the polish!

As stated by Jessi, Tidepool is a glitter polish that has "fine halo turquoise with some dark purple, larger matte yellow and pink hexes, and large holo lavender hexes".

Here I used 1 coat of Tidepool over Zoya Sailor and Essie Big Spender.

Tidepool had a great dry time. I didn't have to fish for any glitters; they came right out. It is also a good coverage glitter for 1 coat. I was very impressed!

Now for the glitter, Angels Wear Green!

Angels Wear Green is a loose glitter with emerald micro glitters along with multi-shaped silver glitters. This is a solvent resistent glitter, so if I wanted to I could have just put it into polish base, but instead I chose to use it to create a mani!

I dabbed the glitter over wet black polish. Here I used Sinful Colors Black on Black.

Here is Angels Wear Green in all of it's sparkling glory!

For never using a loose glitter before I was surprised how easy it was to create a mani!

Jessi was gracious enough to give all of my readers 15% off your purchase! The coupon code is below!

Pumpkins!

Hello Lacquer Lovers!
What says Halloween more than pumpkins? I get a pumpkin every time I go to the store, so I thought I would recreate my love for them on my nails!

As most of my nail art, this is perfect for beginners!
As a base color a chose Pure Ice Oh Baby!, which is a pearly opalescent color. Then, I took a nameless neon orange Color Club and made the pumpkin shape. I did 2 coats for maximum opacity. They don't have to be perfect; no pumpkins ever are! I used Diamond Cosmetics Nail Art Striper in 14K for the outline and curves of the pumpkin. Then, I used L.A. Colors Nail Art Striper in Bright Green and Diamond Cosmetics Nail Art Striper in Cocoa for the leaves and the stems.

I think that this is a perfect fall manicure whether you celebrate Halloween or not! If you wanted a super spooky manicure, then you could add Jack-O-Lateran faces!

Until Next time, stay spooky!

Twinsie Thursday: Fall

It is Twinsie Thursday! Enjoy this post from my wonderful friend Lothwen! Check out the photo at the end of the post to view my manicure! xoxoxo

Hello lovelies!

Here I am again for our third Twinsie Thursday :) This time the theme is fall and the colour palette to use is nude, brown, green and gold. I chose a dark brown and nude and gold from Essence ("Red Ahead" (I swear it's dark brown), "Iced Latte" and "My Fortune Cookie")  The green is from NYC, "Flat Iron Green". I used the saran wrap technique for the marbling effect. First two coats of the brown and then I 'saran-ed' the nude on. Then applied Sally Hansen Insta Dri to shorten the dry time and finally I taped off the upper part of the nail and applied the gold. Then I freehanded the green (there were too many layers, taping again would have taken too long). All was sealed in with another coat of SH Insta Dri!

That's it for today folks! I will have a longer post next time, but I reaaaaally got to sleep now ;) I'm doing training to become a computer nerd and it is exhausting ;)

Thanks Samantha, can't wait for your creation! (As I'm writing it, I haven't seen it yet ;) ). Let's do it again next month :D

xoxoxo

Thanks Lothwen! Yes, we will have to do this again!:) To see my manicure, click on the photo below. It may not be up yet because of the time difference, so keep checking back!

Sharpie Spiderwebs!

Hello Lacquer Lovers!
There are a few weeks until Halloween, so that means all of my nail art posts until the end of the month will be Halloween themed!

Today I have a super cute and easy nail art design for you: spiderwebs! There are many ways that spiderwebs can be done; freehand, stamping, or decals are just a few! Today I'll be trying a technique that is new to me; sharpie nail art!

I used 3 thin coats of Nina Ultra Pro Pearly Brights. Pearly Brights is a beautiful orange with pearly blue hues when in the sun. It dries really fast and dries to a matte finish.

Next, I took a ultra fine point Sharpie and drew on my spiderweb design. It does take a little practice, but it is easy after you get the hang of it! The beauty of this type of nail art is that it doesn't have to look perfect, since spiderwebs don't always look perfect in real life.

Top coating Sharpie nail art is very precarious because if the brush hits it, it may smear. My advice is to use a thin quick dry top coat.

Overall, I really love this look! It took about 5 minutes in total from start to finish, so it is perfect for a fast manicure. Share this on my Facebook page if you recreate it! I would love to see it! :)

Until next time!

DIY Nail Polish Stickers in 4 Steps!

Hello Lacquer Lovers!
Today I have a super short, but very informational post for you to make your own DIY nail stickers or decals in 4 steps!

I used Zoya Sailor and Daphine Polish Sparkling Waters for this tutorial.

Step 1
Take a plastic bag and put a piece of paper inside of it that has squares in it. This is to keep you from making your decals to large and to keep them from overlapping each other.

Step 2
Put a thick square of topcoat in your first square. Make sure to start in your first square and work your way across.

Step 3
Polish as usual on the square of topcoat! Make sure to top it off with a thin quick dry topcoat.

Step 4
After it is completely dry, peel it off and cut it into your nail shape. Apply!

This is super easy, but it does take some practice!

See you next week with some Halloween nail art! :)
